Global Challenges, New Class

I believe that I am going to enjoy this class and part of the reason that I began this blog was to post my work from class, as well as fun stuff.  So now you know my motives, we will begin with a simple and I do mean simple autobiography, just not enough time for anything else.  I have one class after this one and will begin my dissertation--and you will see parts of the work as I go along that journey, so enjoy the ride.

I was born and raised on a small farm near Vidalia, Ga., where I learned many of life's lessons that have served me well throughout my life.  I began my career in the medical field where I served as a Cardio-pulmonary Technician and Respiratory Technician for nine years.  After nine years of hospital work, I was offered a job in the private practice area working directly for physicians.  I began working in a nine-physician practice, including family practitioners, a pulmonologist, and a cardiologist; I was floor supervisor promoted to supervisor of nursing.   After five years, I decided to take a position with a group of local dermatologists for more income and surgical experience.  I invested seven more years in the medical field.  In 1998, my oldest daughter began college, which gave me the push I needed to go back to school and earn a degree instead of certifications.

I completed my BSBIS (Business Information Systems) at the University of Phoenix (UoP) in 2002. After graduation, I received an offer to work for UoP .  At that time, I began my new career in business and began my MBA, which I completed in 2005.  In 2005, I received an offer from a transportation company, Unishippers, as Regional Sales Manager.  In 2009, the state of the economy eliminated my position due to the declining profitability of the company, and I then decided it was time to go back to school and complete my plans to earn my doctorate, thus the reason I am in this class.   My ultimate goal is to teach online as soon as I can find the right school and complete my DBA—I have one class left and then the dissertation—Yahoo!

Currently, I work for myself, Aultman Ventures.  I have just started a blog site this in March at AultmanVentures.blogspot.com.  This is a fun and informative site for business and personal expression, please enjoy.  My services provide business solutions and strategies that really work and include business planning, processes and implementation.  I have assisted clients in the design of their website, procurement, staff training, staffing, market research, survey design, delivery and interpretation, general management, grant writing and start-ups.  The small to medium sized business is my niche market.  My process is much like a doctor of medicine.  I diagnosis the illness or problem based on the symptoms and needs of the organization or patient; next I recommend and/or provide the cure.

In addition to my business, I enjoy my five adult children, the oldest is 31 and the youngest is 21.  An un-lawful driver tragically took their father and my husband of 21 years from us in 2006.  I am glad I grew up on that small farm in Ga.—I am not sure I could have accomplished the goals and survived the challenges life has sent my way without the life lessons and strong value system learned there.
